Hey, Hey Look at Me On My Journey!

4th Oct 2024

In the Nurture Nest this week we continued with our play based learning on the topic ‘Hey! Hey, Look at me on my Journey’. We were exploring outdoors and investigating the wonderful things we can see hear, taste, touch and feel and placed them on our sensory stick. We continued to focus on the ways we look after ourselves using exercise-yoga, dance and meditation.  We were chatting about how we have changed over time and looked at out own personal timeline.  We had lots of opportunities to engage in data handling making pictograms and created a self - portrait and placed written details about ourselves in Just 2 Easy. Each day we listened to a new story about a journey and then travelled around the school exploring different areas. We hope to go on a variety of journeys in our locality and make a digital storytelling film of our journey in Autumn. We played lots of games this week to improve our talking and listening skills, turn taking, investigation and problem-solving skills.  Our P3 pupils looked carefully at Claude Monet’s waterlilies painting work and started making beautiful chalk drawings.

As usual we enjoyed our cooking activity and the children chose to cook pizzas with special toppings but the tasting is always the best part!

We all engaged in counting up to 50 using toys, snack plates, cups and fruit.  'The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ was hungry and he seemed to want all our food so we taught him some important table manners.
