Letter for Parents/ Guardians
( Please translate using the Google translate option above if required)
Dear Parent/ Guardian
I hope everyone had an enjoyable summer and the children are ready to return to school. School opens on Friday 1st September and this year’s School Holiday List can be viewed at https://www.stpatrickspsdungannon.com/parents-area/holiday-list/ .
It is very important that the school has up to date contact details for all parents and guardians. Please ensure the school office is aware of any changes to your contact details.
I would encourage you to use the school website, Facebook page and Twitter feed to keep up to date with school events. Parents can also download the Schools NI app to their phone and select St. Patrick’s PS as their school.
School meals will continue to be charged at £2.60 per day and it is very helpful if this can be paid on Mondays. Parents who are eligible for Free School Meals and Uniform Allowance should click on https://www.eani.org.uk/financial-help/free-school-meals-uniform-grants/apply-for-free-school-meals-uniform-grants . We are happy to help so please contact the school on 02887723473 if you wish to make an appointment so a member of staff can support you with this.
The Department of Education have made it their policy to insist that all schools encourage children to develop healthy eating habits and parents have an essential role in this. We are encouraging parents not to include foods that contain chocolate, high levels of sugar, crisps and sweets as a snack or in lunch boxes. Children should only bring water to school in their water bottles. We hope to make fruit available for the children to buy at a low price. Your support with this is greatly appreciated.
Primary 1 children will come to school on the days that their child’s teacher has indicated for the first week and will finish at 1pm. From Monday 11th September, all P1 children will attend and will finish at 2pm.
All parents should ensure that their child’s teacher is notified about how their child is travelling home from school. Any child travelling home on a school bus is expected to display good behaviour and travel in a safe manner.
PE classes will commence week beginning Monday 11th September and you will be informed of your child’s PE day.
It has been well documented that school budgets have suffered numerous cuts and our school is no different. We plan to include a small amount of fundraising this year and we are holding a non-uniform day on the last Friday of every month beginning Friday 29th September. We are asking for a small donation of £1 per child for that day.
Children's photographs will be included on the School Website and the school's social media channels. If you do not wish your child to be included please contact the school office 02887723473.
We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Friday and supporting all our children and parents in the new school year.
Yours Sincerely
Seamus McCreesh
