Special Visitors to the Nurture Nest
The highlight of our week in the Nurture Nest was a visit from Gabriel's baby sister, Rayana, his mum and aunt. The children had the opportunity to ask questions about the baby- her age, how she feeds, what she enjoys .. etc. We couldn't resist giving her a cuddle as she kept smiling and enjoying the attention. Gabriel was a super star at translating questions asked by his peers into Portuguese for his mum and telling his peers her answers. Gabriel's aunt was very pleased with his accurate translations. This made us all very proud of Gabriel.
The children engaged over the past two weeks in ~Theraplay, Nurture in 5 and Connect in Nurture activities as well as Dough Disco linked to their World Around Us Topic 'Twinkle, Twinkle'.
They enjoyed a variety of Literacy and Numeracy activities that required listening skills, taking turns, working as team members and selecting leaders in the team. Cooking bread and making hot dogs created great sensory experiences which we all loved and enabled us to use adjectives to describe the taste and smell of our cooking, make lists, and write share sentences about our cooking sessions.
We ended our week by celebrating our achievement at assembly and the children received certificates for Mathseeds or Readingeggs and some pupils achieved both awards.
